Build a school–employer collaboration

The strongest placement conversations connect three things: what the student must learn, what the organisation needs, and how both sides will notice when the plan needs to change.

Align the three briefs

Bring the school learning outcomes, the employer's project brief, and the student's development goals into one conversation. Record the overlap and the gaps before approval.

Keep the plan concrete enough for a student to start and flexible enough for a supervisor to adapt it safely.

  • Project deliverable, scope, and access boundary.
  • Student support, workplace supervision, and school contact.

Agree check-ins and escalation

Decide when school and employer review progress together, and who is contacted when the student's safety, learning, or project scope is at risk.

This is a coordination pattern, not a claim that every placement has the same process. Document the agreement for the specific student and organisation.
